Beneath the dew on Eden’s leaf
The couple loved in blisses brief.
They snatched at death, were cursed in grief
	And sent out from the land.

In later law two goats appear:
The one to kill, the one to clear,
With sins confessed into its ear
	And sent out from the land.

The people still retained their way
With eyes of wood and ears of clay.
So nations came on Yahweh’s Day
	And dragged them from the land.

And I am just a fallow man.
I parallel that wayward clan
With broken eyes that cannot scan
The sacred place where Jesus ran,
	Into that holy land.
Yet he returns, the Living Man,
And fashions me upon his plan,
And takes my sin, where I began,
	And sends it from my hand.
