(This poem was originally published as "The Lion Lamb")

What strength have you, Oh Little Lamb,
To save me from the lion’s brood?
I see you’re burdened, as I am,
And slain for sin, I see your blood.
You’re caught in brambles as the ram
And lifted up in fury’s flood.

~

While shepherding my father’s sheep
A beast would often come to eat.
He’d take, yet I would strike him deep
And save them from a sad defeat.
And if, on me, he turned to leap,
I’d rise and crush him with my feet.
