As Samwise said to Rosie: "Well, I'm back."

Having taken most of December and all of January off from my regular production of Poetry Pie, I am now ready to step back into the kitchen and get to my plans for this year. This break was quite nice, though not as devoid of blog-work as I had thought. During this time I happened to publish 3 poems (2 of which were brand new), along with a Christmas edition of Poetry Pie.

In addition to all this, I officially launched my first book! 🎉🎉This took many, many hours of finalizing the manuscript, formatting it to my satisfaction, setting up all the details for purchasing/shipping, and, finally, releasing it out to you all. What a blessing it was when it was finished! Many of you have honored me with a purchase, to which I am deeply humbled and grateful. Direct book purchases are still available from my inventory for any others that may be interested!

Book: Who Made The Eyes But I? - Volume I Anthology
Who Made The Eyes But I? - Volume 1 is an anthology of the written content that I’ve published to my blog during 2025. This book stands as a physical representation of God’s faithfulness through my first year of writing to this blog! The volume contains: * 19 original poems, with

But one of the main purposes of this break was for me to plan out my blog goals for this coming year. And this is what I'd like to briefly share with you today.

Goals and Plans

I've split my goals/plans for this year into two groups: my Writing goals and my Poetry Pie newsletter.

Writing Goals

In 2025 I published:

  • 19 poems, 10 of which were completed that year
  • 6 Articles
  • 5 Poet's Notes

This year, I would like to beat these numbers, if only by a little bit. To me, the highest priority is writing poetry, specifically completing new poems that do not currently exist. If I complete a new poem each month (interspersed, potentially, with older poems) then I will have surpassed the last year. I have a healthy list of poem ideas that are waiting for me, so I'm confident that I can hit this goal (and perhaps more!).

For articles, I want to be in a better habit of writing shorter blogs on more topical ideas. Not all articles need to be longer, teaching material; it can be shorter and more targeted to a specific idea (like, for example, my blog on writing a Christmas poem).

And for Poet's Notes, I would also like to get in a better habit of writing these for the various poems that I have completed. These are the only Patron exclusive content that I have, so I'd like to produce more to show my appreciation to you all! If I write Notes every other month, then I will have surpassed this last year.

There are other writing projects that I have that aren't necessarily connected with this blog (though you all may eventually hear of them). I'm hoping to continue to push these projects forward as well.

Poetry Pie Series: Poets of History

Timeline of Poets (blue dots represent birth years)

For 2026, I am planning a new series in Poetry Pie: Poets of History! This will have the same format as how Poetry Pie currently is, yet it will feature the major English poets through history. We will be starting all the way back with Chaucer, making our way through the years until we end with Robert Frost. Each week will feature two poets (three on a few occasions), with two poems from each of them. And, of course, I'll end each edition with a poem of my own (shameless, I know).

I'm really excited to write for this series! While this can only be a brief flyover (with many good poets missing), I'm hoping that we will all (myself included) be able to see the trends and development of English poetry to how we have it today. We can note the differences between poets and eras, how they construct their thoughts and the form of their poems. There are many poets on my list that I have barely read. I'm hoping to learn a lot and I hope you are too!

To wet your whistle, here is the list of poets that I plan to feature (a full 46).

  • Geoffrey Chaucer
  • Sir Thomas Wyatt
  • Edmund Spenser
  • Sir Philip Sidney

Soli Deo Gloria
